How To Get and Stay Organized
Getting and staying organized can seem like an impossible task. However, being organized can help in the long run and save you from more stress in the future. If you’re the type who can’t stay organized or doesn’t know where to begin, here are a few tips to help you declutter your life.
Make a list
Making a list is one of the most important elements in staying organized. If you have a busy schedule it can seem overwhelming to look at it as a whole. Making a list of the events you have going on throughout your day and taking them one at a time can make your busy schedule seem doable. This will allow you to focus on one task at a time.
Plan ahead
Keeping track of things can be hard. That is why writing things down or making notes on your smartphone can be essential to your organization. College students juggle school, work, extracurriculars, social lives, etc. Plan ahead and make yourself familiar with your schedule as to not overbook yourself. Overbooking could cause you stress and cancelling usually looks bad on you. Especially when it comes to those surprise quizzes or tests that can be easy to forget about. Make yourself reminders and you will see significant results.
Get a planner
A planner may seem a little lame, but honestly, it helps. As mentioned in the two previous points, a busy schedule is typically the source of feeling unorganized. Learning to manage your schedule will help you stay organized. Write down each task you have for a week and check the items off as you accomplish them. Seeing these tasks get done can motivate you and keep you on track for your busy schedule. Downtime is always needed so feel free to allow yourself to make your own downtime if you feel it necessary.
Getting organized is the easy part; staying organized is the challenge. Once you get the hang of it and are able to manage your schedule accordingly, it won’t seem unbearable. You will appreciate your free time more and find yourself able to relax during your downtime knowing your tasks are done.
